A WEEKLY COMMENTARY
Year Twenty-Seven ... Number Ten ... March 7, 1980
THE GREAT ENTRAPMENT
Entrap. To trick into danger or difficulty; deceive; ensnare.
The word is seldom heard outside legal circles. But suddenly it became almost a household word. Investigative reporters stumbled onto the story, or it was leaked to them, that the renovated and redirected FBI had entrapped eight elected officials of our federal government. G-Men who once specialized in the worthy occupation of catching people who had committed crimes, now were told to cause certain elected officials to commit crimes by deceiving them. Posing as wealthy Arab investors, they allegedly offered bribes for favors to an undisclosed number of public officials and had succeeded in entrapping a number of them. Media spotlight was aimed especially at U.S. Representative Richard Kelly of Florida, a Republican and a strict conservative (Liberty Lobby, in its latest ledger of voting records gives him a rating of 100; which means "a positive and constructive response" to every issue on which all Congressmen were rated). Rep. Kelly was ridiculed and made a laughing stock by the media when he said that instead of being entrapped he was trying to entrap those who were offering bribes. Somehow, we are inclined to believe him because of his conservative voting record. For example, on page E671 of the Congressional Record of February 20, 1980, there is an entry by Rep. Kelly titled "The Growth of Government Regulations -- a New Form of Tyranny". Here is one paragraph taken from his speech:
| "In short, we are developing a new form of tyranny unlike any in the past. It is a tyranny enforced not by the will of arms, nor by the demogogic leadership of a noble despot. It is not a tyranny where the many have been coerced against their will. Rather, it is a tyranny imposed by a bureaucratic elite upon a society willing to accept its mandate, a society where the individual is beginning to count for less, a society where personal initiative is becoming subordinated to the new higher social consciousness. It is the tyranny of the bureaucracy of which I speak and it is my conviction that if allowed to continue in its present course, it will threaten our survival as a free and independent people, for it has the potential to enslave us all .. To prevent this is one of the great challenges we must all face together." (unquote). |
For making speeches like that in a similar time in history, Cicero had his head cut off. Times have changed: Kelly was only made to look a fool. Nevertheless, the same evils that destroyed ancient Rome are also destroying America.
Paster Arnold Murray of Shepherd's Chapel in Gravette, Arkansas asks: "Why would people order a law-enforcement body to set up entrapments using large sums of money to play on the weakness of the public-elected officials?" This is his answer: "It is part of the process of brainwashing our people into thinking our type of government is corrupt and unworkable, thus preparing them mentally to accept a world government that would supposedly bring peace, prosperity and fairness to all. Our people are the ones really getting the Sting.
Is there a plot to make us believe that our form of government is corrupt, and unworkable, and that a world government is now necessary? The answer seems obvious when we think of new constitutions being written, Regional Governance being imposed upon us, Declaration of Interdependence being proclaimed and appeals being made to other nations to help us out because we can't go it alone against the "communist menace," or the "energy crisis," the "Iranian criss" or the "monetary crisis." But, has the corruption, incompetence, and the inefficiency of our elected officials -- and their public exposure -- been a part of the plot?
To paraphrase an old Chinese proverb, a political cartoon is worth a thousand words. On the morning following President Carter's gaffe concerning the condemnation of Israel -- for which he so abjectly apologized -- there appeared on the editorial page of Knight-Ridder's Miami Herald, a carton depicting a gullible-type woman apparently talking to herself in a series of poses and saying: "So what if he's incapable of stopping inflation .. So what if he's leading us into another recession .. So what if he's broken campaign promises like a bull in a china shop.. So what if he's proud of Bert Lance and William Miller .. So what if his bumbling caused the Iran crisis.. So what if that precipitated the Afghanistan crisis.. So what if his incompetence has impaired the confidence of the United States allies.. So what if he voted against Israel in the UN, without knowing what he was voting for .. My President, Right or Wrong!"

IRS AND THE SCHOOLS -- REVISITED
President Carter has done it again! The Administration's budget for 1981 calls for the deletion of the prohibition on the use of funds by the Internal Revenue Service to enforce its proposed regulations regarding tax-exempt schools. These are the regulations you successfully fought a year ago.
The regulations were originally issued on August 22, 1978 and resulted in over 130,000 letters of protest to the IRS. The regulations would have declared that all tax-exempt schools were guilty of racial discimination unless they could prove themselves innocent. The regs, as put forth by the IRS, would have seriously interfered not only with parent's rights to determine their children's education, but would have permitted IRS agents to harass school administrators. It put the IRS in the position of being the gestapo for the bureaucratic social engineers. The very people who claim that they know better than parents what is best for a child.
The regulations which would affect church operated schools, would let the IRS yank a school's tax-exempt status -- effectively closing the schools if they could not prove upon appeal that they:
The regulations were "revised", but the revision was simply window dressing. The newer regulations continued to accept the assumption, which is contrary to what has always been an accepted concept in American jurisprudence, that the school was guilty and the school had to prove itself innocent. Schools would be required to enroll minority students. The IRS did not have to show any discriminatory intent. The "revised" regulations made the situation worse by leaving to the IRS the sole discretion in determining whether or not to apply the procedure.
The alarm must be sounded. The IRS must not be allowed to take over our schools! .. Write your Congressman .. and let him know that you will not tolerate this intrusion ...

On the same day in our local West Palm Beach Post, also on the editorial page there appeared a series of caricatures of Jimmy Carter. The first one has him saying, "There is an energy crisis." Second one, "Our oil supply is threatened." Third caricature, "We face hardships, gas lines." Fourth, "And high prices." Fifth, "So I'm asking all Americans to make a sacrifice." Finally, "Your first born male child," and he is holding a poster reading "Draft."
These cartoons are typical of the treatment accorded Jimmy Carter throughout his term as President: and yet it seems to have worked to his political advantage. He has been depicted as an incompetent, ineffectual, erratic and error-prone President. But this has worked to the benefit of the Power Brokers, in two ways: it has promoted their programs which lead toward world government, and it has kept Jimmy Carter sufficiently popular among the trough-feeders and handout receivers so that there is every possibility that he will be re-elected. This despite the fact that his selection of aides and assistants, and the actions of his own family, has been remarkable. Jimmy's best friend Bert Lance is on trial for manipulating money for Carter's benefit. Peter Bourne was caught in the act of prescribing prohibited drugs while in the White House, and had to be transferred to a post in the U.N. Hamilton Jordan is being investigated for his alleged cocaine sniffing. Andrew Young was forced to resign because of his so very obvious anti-white and pro-communist stance. Carter's son Chip has recently been divorced, which borders on sin worthy of excommunication in most Baptist circles. Eldest son Jack Carter was discharged from the Navy when he was caught smoking marijuana at the Navy Nuclear Power School in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Carter's sister Ruth received much adverse publicity for "converting" the "born again pornographer" Larry Flint. Etc., etc.
Offered as Carter's chief opponent in the Democratic party candidacy race is the amoral Edward Kennedy. Loyal Democrats, therefore, have their choice of the lesser of two evils; and probably will choose the more dangerous of the two.
On the Republican side of the political aisle, much manipulation is required by the Power Brokers. Baker has withdrawn from the race. Crane, Connally and Dole are being outdistanced, probably will quit the race. This leaves Reagan versus Trilateralist Bush and Trilateralist Anderson. Bush has, admittedly, been following the game plan that put Carter in the White House and under the sponsorship of David Rockefeller & Co., is expected to win. However, at this writing Reagan is holding his own. So here comes the strategy: Ford, also a Rockefeller favorite because of his appointment of Nelson as Vice President, says Reagan can't win the election. And to see to it that Reagan doesn't win, Ford is standing by to be "drafted." That will split the pseudo-conservative vote between Reagan and Ford, allowing Bush to win the nomination. But, just in case the delegates at the nominating convention are stalemated, Trilaterialist Anderson is standing by as an alternate choice. In the political sense, Reagan's worst enemy seems to be Ronald Reagan, because of his lack of discernment in the choice of campaign managers. Reagan speaks out in no uncertain terms against the Trilateral Commission and its influence on Carter's administration. But he was harboring an establishment crony named John Sears as his campaign manager. Sears lost Reagan the nomination in 1976, and was evidently on the way to doing the same thing in 1980. So, at long last, he was to resign, or was fired. Reagan followers breathed a sigh of relief. However, the relief was short lived. Appointed to replace Sears was William J. Casey -- who is a member of the Council on Foreign Relatons.
The sad part of the story of this election season: there are worthy, and trustworthy candidates, most popular of whom is probably Meldrim Thomson, Constitution Party candidate. But he is ignored by the media, as are all other third party candidates. So, this is the Great Entrapment: We are tricked into danger and difficulty, deceived, ensnared. We are condemned to another four years of ad administration will infested with Trilateral Commissars, CFR bigwigs and Bilderbergers.
This need not leave us barren, defenseless, and without political power, however. Who occupies the White House can be of secondary importance if the right kind of Americans occupy the seats of Congress. President James Madison who is best remembered for an important doctrine that has been ignored to our detriment and danger, spoke of the United States Congress, saying "The whole system of the National Government may be said to rest essentially on the powers granted to this branch. They mark the limits within which, with few exceptions, all the branches must move in the discharge of their respective functions."
While the President now is chosen by the proprietors of political parties, and we the people can merely select from their choices, it need not be so when the Senators and Members of the House of Representatives are elected. There, we the people, if we insist and act as we should, will have a direct hand in selecting our direct representatives. And a Congress that would truly and positively "mark the limits" within which the Administration and the Judiciary move, can restore our lost Republic. In the final analysis, a President can do little without the advice and consent of the Congress. Constitutionally, Congress should exercise the power to prevent both judges and bureaucrats from making laws. The Constitution says clearly: "All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives."
This year every member of the House of Representatives and 34 Senators must be elected or re-elected. Here we the people can, and should, choose for ourselves those who are to represent us in Washington, and this regardless of any party coercion or persuasion. This is the one thing the Trilateralists and the other Power Brokers fear because they cannot control completely what transpires in the Halls of Congress. And this is also why there has been an Abscam operation! Entrapment is illegal and such cases are thrown out of court, when justice prevails. In this sense it matters not whether Congressmen were guilty of accepting bribes; it was illegal to offer them bribes in the first place! The purpose of Operation Abscam was to intimidate Congressmen, make them fear to stand against the Power Brokers. Think of it: the FBI established a cover firm, Abdul Enterprises, has its agents pose as wealthy Arab businessmen and offer thousands of dollars for special favors in immigration matters and business deals. This is Police State ethics, right out of the Gestapo rulebook! Unless public indignation against the Justice Department is shown, throughout the United States, honest men will fear to run for seats in Congress and there will be little hope for the survival of our country as we once knew it.
Here is what action is required: First, in cleaning out the rascals in the Congress; then in backing up our Congressmen when they begin the second phase of a national cleanup which we should demand of them. And let the rabble worry about who lives in the White House. The limited powers granted to the federal government by the States must be returned to the Capitol Building!
