The desirability of owning land is not lost upon the general public, although there are many subtleties concerning property ownership which can have a real impact on your wealth and prosperity if you are not careful.
As a very general example, consider that what is being bought, sold and held is not (necessarily) land or property per se; but rather, it is real estate. That is to say, it is the "King's Estate," to which you are merely being given no more than petty equitable title (the phrase "real estate" having come into the Middle English from French were it meant "royal estate" or the "king's estate").
This is evidenced even in countries like the United States which operate under an ostensibly republican form of law (having no identifiable "King" per se) by the existence of property taxes, inheritance taxes, estate taxes and various and sundry other encumbrances that prevent landholders from enjoying full, allodial to their land and the fruits thereof. While full allodial title is difficult to secure in this day and age, there do exist concrete steps you can take to reduce the encumbrances that attach to any property you may own and increase your own sovereignty to the fullest extent possible.
